Award-winning Westdale Services have created another piece of history for themselves in a £2.42m contract in Durham, where Artbrick Stone is being used at scale for the first time.

Set up to combat the problems of brick effect renders, Artbrick can be used to copy any brick, and now it has been successfully employed on the first stone property in a private housing insulation scheme funded jointly by Durham County Council and the EU.

Artbrick has a glowing reputation of being superior to, and more cost-effective than, either brick or stone slips for this and other applications, and here is a great example of how it is flexible enough to be used even on planning-sensitive buildings. The accompanying illustrations tell their own story. The building on the left has just been completed, while the one on the right is still awaiting the final and most dramatic transformation.

“Our status as ArtBrick licenced installer has allowed us to contract and deliver on a unique scheme that would otherwise be impossible to deliver. Artbrick has given us a commercial advantage and a reputation in the EWI industry for quality, long-lasting finishes. The addition of stone to the Artbrick range makes the product even more unique and adds strings to our bow that we never thought possible.” – Joe Rogers, Director Westdale North Ltd.

By the time of contract completion in 2019 there will be approximately 100 properties with the handsome stone finish.
