Westdale Services are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a contract worth £2 million developing over 200 houses in Durham. The contract is a domestic solid wall insulation innovation (SWIi) project and will be completed by Westdale North using Structherm’s unique EWI (external wall insulation) system and ArtBrick’s new  stone finish.

Durham County Council requires a minimum of 210 privately owned domestic properties to be completed in County Durham with a potential for further properties if budget allows.  Durham County Council and Durham University Energy Institute have made a successful application for funding from The European Regional Development Fund to fund the delivery of the solid wall insulation (SWI) innovation project in domestic properties in fuel poor communities across Durham. The funding for the Solid Wall Insulation Works is £2.142 million.

Westdale North will use the new but proven, tested and accredited ArtBrick resin system which is fully approved on the Structherm insulation system.  The unique system involves the application of coloured and clear resins by specialist trained personnel that allow for precise colour matching to surroundings and are not restricted by standard manufacturing techniques.

The resins serve to further enhance the weathering properties of the Structherm materials and are proven to reduce and eliminate efflorescence thereby permitting works to be undertaken at times when temperatures and conditions would otherwise cause cessation of the works. Specialist tools are manufactured which enable the accurate reproduction of the texture and relief of surrounding brick or stone properties thereby creating the highest possible standard and authentication. The finish is more rapid to apply than brick slips, is more resilient to inclement weather and more cost effective than brick slips.

The ArtBrick stone finish is the newest product in the Artbrick production line and is a unique finish to have on households.  Keighley Grey mortar layer, Whitby Stone, and Old Yorkshire stone are different types of face layers that can be used as stone effect, random stone effect and Ashlar stone effect.  Artbrick stone can be combined with any of the original three Artbrick flavours – Standard, Traditional and Bespoke to give a super-realistic, award-winning stone finish.

ArtBrick is cost effective, efficient, robust and looks stunning. Can be made to order or made to match any existing brick or stone rock and doesn’t compromise in appearance, unlike brick effect renders.  Capable of finishing almost any substrate, new construction and external wall insulation, ArtBrick will showcase its stone finish on over 200 homes in Durham.

The project is set to begin in March 2018 and to be completed in June 2019.
